Conference Request

Procedure to request talks and/or visits from the Landslide Hazard Mitigation Office in Puerto Rico:

We offer talks and participation in educational fairs for schools, government or private agencies, social organizations, non-profit organizations, communities, the general public, among others. To request, or to coordinate conferences in your school or work area, please fill out the online form or see the alternative request methods.

Regulations for Conferences:

Virtual Conferences

  1. The conference applicant must have internet and a sound system.

  2. You will receive an invitation by email to access the conference.

  3. A test will be conducted prior to the day of the conference.

Visits to schools

  1. You must fill out the form or send a letter requesting the conference. It must be approved by the school principal.

  2. The conference applicant must:

  • Provide safe parking for the resource.

  • Receive the resource and take him/her to the area designated for the conference. Sometimes, the resource will need help with educational materials and equipment.

  • During the conference, a teacher or a person in charge must be present, as they will be the ones who will maintain control of the activity.

  • You must have a suitable room to be able to project. The Landslide Hazard Mitigation Office in Puerto Rico does not provide a projection screen (we only provide a computer, projector and educational material).

  • If the group or location is large, you should consider using sound equipment

  1. The resource may offer up to a maximum of 2 conferences per visit. Schools may only request conferences once in the semester.

  2. Avoid mixing students of different levels in the same session (e.g. Kindergarten students with 5th grade students).

  3. If for any reason the resource considers that their safety is at risk (weather conditions, inconveniences or noncompliance with the rules) the conference may be cancelled or postponed.

Conferences for the general public

  1. Have a minimum of 10 people.

  2. The conference requester must ensure that parking is provided, receive the resource and have a room with the appropriate equipment to project.

  3. The conference may be cancelled or postponed if the resource considers that their safety is at risk (weather conditions, inconveniences or non-compliance with the rules)
